Seahorse XFe96 Analyzer

Seahorse XFe96 Analyzers measure OCR and ECAR of live cells in a 96-well plate format. OCR and ECAR rates are key indicators of mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis and these measurements provide a systems-level view of cellular metabolic function in cultured cells and ex-vivo samples.

Hypoxia Chamber

The Seahorse Analyzer provides non-invasive measurement with no addition of dyes, labels or reporters. It measures adherent cells without requiring trypsinization, and suspension cells may be measured using Cell-Tak® cell and tissue attachment medium. It typically requires only 5×103 to 5×105 per 96-well Seahorse assay.

The equipment is compatible with convenient, easy-to-use Seahorse XF test kits and other Seahorse XF reagents. It simplifies the study of cellular metabolism by providing pre-calibrated, pre-tested reagents for measuring metabolic phenotype, mitochondrial respiration, glycolysis, and fatty acid oxidation. OCR and ECAR rate are calculated in 2-5 minutes using data acquired every 14 seconds. Measurements may be repeated indefinitely to measure kinetic responses. Up to four test compounds may be added automatically to each well during the assay. Measurements may be performed before and after each compound is added.

Hypoxia Chamber

The TEP’s Seahorse Analyzer is housed inside an hypoxic chamber (custom made by Coy Lab) so that real-time analysis of metabolic function can be performed at a wide range of oxygen concentrations (including hypoxia). This allows for analyzing in vitro cellular and organismal metabolic functions at relevant in vivo oxygen levels.
